The gastronomic journey begins at the center of Natural and Cultural heritage in Karteroli, Messinia, which is located 12 km from the city of Kalamata and just 5 km from the airport. The stone building of 1910 reveals the gastronomic identity and history of the area through an interactive tour by an archaeologist.
Mythical heroes, Gods and Playmobils are the guides in the journey of knowledge and fun! Interactive family activities and the solution of puzzles are the trigger to discover the history of the area’s local products and nutrition but also for fun!
Inside the tasting room, the dining table has the aroma of olive oil and you will be introduced by an olive oil connoisseur to its features in a tasting workshop especially designed for families… Try more than 4 varieties of olive oil, such as “Koroneiki”, “Manaki”, “Halkidiki” etc. and recognize the aromas, the personality and the characteristics that classify them in the category of extra virgin olive oil.
Key food products such as cheese, bread, olives, raisins, figs etc. become the reference points in the local gastronomy! The tasting of a variety of local goods and the inspired food combinations are a unique tasting experience.
The day, full of emotions and new knowledge, ends with a light meal and a variety of traditional dishes…Fresh vegetables from our garden, Greek Gruyère cheese, tzatziki, Kalamata olives, olive tapenade, lalagia (local breadsticks), smoked ham, local pie and of course wine.
