An intreactive and fun tour specially designed for kids and families at the center of natural and cultural heritage in Karteroli, Messinia. Myths, local heroes mind games and interactive activities will reveal the gastronomic identity and history of the region. Then, inside the unique Gastronomy Lab, the family members cook together simple Greek recipes so as to discover the aromas and the flavor of the area and to enjoy their own cooked meal!

Discover a local gastronomy Center

The gastronomic journey begins at the center of natural and cultural heritage Center at Karteroli, Messinia, located 12 km from the city of Kalamata and just 5 km from kalamata’s airport. The stone building of 1910 reveals the gastronomic identity and history of the area.

The Natural and Cultural heritage center is the right place to have fun as family but also to learn about the local gastronomy and history . Our experienced hostess, archeologist, through myths, local heroes and mind games will help us unfold the gastronomic identity and history of the region.

Cook authentic local recipes!

All the flavor of the area is enclosed in simple, pure ingredients such as fresh vegetables and fruits, local cheese products and the extra virgin olive oil. We try local flavors and make our the famous tzatziki, the Cretan Dako, small cheese pies and the local specialty Kayanas with fresh eggs, salt and sphela cheese.

Tasting of local products

While cooking, we learn about the local tradition and we try different varieties of extra virgin olive oil, local cheeses (feta, sphela, graviera), kalamata olives and olive paste, traditional lalagia and other local flavors.
